Heerenveen’s Facebook page soars after Doan Van Hau’s transfer
The transfer of Vietnamese player Doan Van Hau to Dutch SC Heerenveen has caught the public’s attention as his new club fanpage on Facebook now has nearly 300,000 followers.
Van Hau was allowed to join the Vietnam National Team later than usual for World Cup 2022 qualifiers so that he could to complete his 1-year loan from V.League champions Hanoi FC to Dutch top division SC Heerenveen on Monday.
Van Hau passed a medical check-up and made his Heerenveen debut at a media conference which was livestreamed on the club’s Facebook page.
Since then, the page has been inundated by Vietnamese fans who began following the page, commenting and liking the posts in support of their hero.
SC Heerenveen’s Facebook page was created in May 2009 and had 70,000 followers by August 31, 2019. But the number of followers jumped to 288,000 in the three days following the appearance of the Van Hau.
In July, when Vietnamese forward Cong Phuong joined Belgium’s Sint-Truidense, that club surged in popularity. Its Facebook fanpage went from 31,000 likes in June to 76,000 likes on August 11, one month after Cong Phuong’s arrival.
