Thailand’s lone forward Supachai says it was an unforgettable lesson, Thailand’s 0-4 thrashing by Vietnam’s U22.

Supachai is the only forward in the 23-man roster of ‘Changsuek’ at the World Cup 2022 qualifiers. The 24-year-old scorer cannot get over the 0-4 defeat to U22 Vietnam in the AFC U23 Championship 2020 qualifiers.

Supachai displayed some unsportsmanlike behavior at My Dinh stadium, throwing a punch to DinhTrong’s face and drawing a 2-match suspension for the finals.

“I still remember the red card in the match. I consider that a career lesson. I hope I’ll do better in the next confrontation with Vietnam,” he told Vnexpress.

“Thailand proved less impressive than Vietnam in every recent tournament. We’ll change that in the upcoming game. Each position should focus on doing its task well and exhibit teamwork to gain the best home result.”

Supachai is under much pressure from coach Akira Nishino and the Thai fans, but the young striker believes in himself in the qualifying match.

Accordingly, Thailand will take on Vietnam at home on September 5 at 7:00PM. This is a chance for ‘Changsuek’ to avenge their previous drubbing at King’s Cup 2019.
