Conflict between coach Shin Tae Yong and the Indonesian football federation is reaching the peak when the Indonesian side insisted it could completely fire the strategist next week.

In December last year, the Indonesian football federation (PSSI) was delighted to sign a contract with coach Shin Tae Yong, who helped South Korea defeat Germany at the 2018 World Cup yet the two sides have a huge rift.

The tension between PSSI and coach Shin Tae Yong broke out after the comments of Mr. Shin Tae Yong in the Korean newspaper on June 19. The 51-year-old strategist harshly criticized PSSI leaders for working inconsistently, delusions with too high achievement targets.

In response to the Korean coach, the Indonesian Football Federation asked Mr. Shin Tae Yong to return to Indonesia to clarify this incident. Indosport quoted Indonesian National Team Leader Sharif Bastaman as:

"If Shin Tae Yong does not return to Indonesia to discuss the plans of the teams, we will have to revise the contract. No matter how good he is, he can be fired if he does not return Jakarta in a week. "

According to Indosport, a big disagreement arose after PSSI asked coach Shin Tae Yong to return to Indonesia to prepare for the U19 concentration in July. But the coach offered to bring the Indonesian U19 team to South Korea, where Mr. Shin has been avoiding the Covid-19 epidemic for the past three months for training.
