New coach Shin Tae Yong had a difficult start with Indonesian football after leading the U19 team to lose all three matches in Thailand.

Coach Shin Tae Yong just had his first training trip with Indonesia U19 in Thailand. His team lost three matches in a row to rivals Kyung Hee University (0-2), Seongnam FC (0-4) and Busan Ipark (1-5).

This result disappointed many Indonesian fans. However, coach Shin Tae Yong did not completely think so. Sharing with the press after the last training session, the Korean coach said:

"I'm not surprised, because the opponents are too strong for us. However, I have seen the strength of my players. They have more confidence when facing strong opponents, and this will help the players play better in the next tournament.”

Indonesia U19 lost three matches in a row on Thai soil.

Indonesian media revealed that coach Shin Tae Yong is intending to build a ball-control and offensive play style for the Indonesia teams. This is made more evident in the last three friendly matches.

“I want the players to play aggressively during the game. They need time to adapt, but I believe the players at the national team level as they will get used to this soon,'' Mr. Shin said.

Coach Shin Tae Yong has a lot of work to do with Indonesian football

As planned, coach Shin Tae Yong will return to work in the Indonesian national team. After 5 consecutive defeats, Indonesia has no chance to advance to the final round of the 2022 World Cup. His only goal is to try to help the team to win tickets to the Asian Cup 2023 in China.

The task of coach Shin Tae Yong in Indonesia will not be easy as he will have to simultaneously manage 3 teams U19, U23 and the national team. His top task is to help Indonesia go deeper in the U23 World Cup 2021 and win the right to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
