Coach Shin Tae-yong has expressed his insistence on the goals of PSSI, including winning the AFF Cup.

The Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) has appointed coach Shin Tae-yong with the expectation that it can change the football background. The Korean coach is assigned to achieve goals in three important tournaments, AFF Cup, U20 World Cup and AFC U19 tournament.

Coach Shin Tae Yong shared with the Korean newspaper Joongang: “The president of  PSSI said he supported all the plans. However, I was really confused with that plan. In order to carry out these projects, the whole football industry must move forward and take action step by step. Until now, I feel like I'm doing everything by myself. That gradually changed my mind. ”

“The PSSI president wants Indonesia NT to be in the quarterfinals of U19 tournament in Uzbekistan next October, expecting the team to win the AFF Cup. At the U20 World Cup 2021 in Indonesia, they also want the team to make it to the quarter-finals. They do not understand where Indonesia stand on FIFA Rankings! It is 173rd in the world.”

The leader who led the Korean team to attend the 2018 World Cup is frustrated. He needed the focus of all sides and the stability from the PSSI, as evidenced by the fact that in April, Secretary General Ratu Tisha, who was well-loved by fans for her ability, suddenly resigned.

Coach Shin Tae-yong wanted a specific plan, all sides cooperated. He asserted that the coach is not a wizard, he needs everything to have a process.

Closing the interview, the South Korean leader also expressed his hope to be successful with Indonesia, he said: “More than 70,000 fans regularly come to the field in the matches before the pandemic. Indonesian’s football love is great, but the government must pay more attention to football and hosting the World Cup next year. When the aspirations of Indonesian football come true, I wish I would be part of history."
