Why does Vietnam always lose to Indonesia?
Indonesia has become a nightmare to Vietnam youth team, which provokes to be an alarming reality to Vietnam football.
U15 Vietnam faced U15 Indonesia on July 27 with the hope to change the head to head history in the youth level, yet Vietnam one again lost to Indonesia as usual.
U15 Vietnam must have had better chance in the match, but U15 Indonesia pulled off a 2-0 win over Vietnam.
Being thrashed by Indonesia in the opening match of AFF U15 championship 2019 is not a nightmare to Vietnam in the qualifying round. However, Vietnam is still an underdog team compared to Indonesia.
After Indonesia was banned from FIFA, they developed their football quickly, Vietnam was disqualified in My Dinh stadium in AFF Cup 2016 with a disappointing loss, U22 Vietnam was eliminated from SEA Games by Indonesia again.
The year 2018 saw continuous losses of Vietnam youth teams. notably, in AFF U18 championship 2018, Vietnam was pooled into a hard-fought group A with Indonesia and Thailand. Vietnam drew to Thailand 0-0 in the opening match and celebrated a triumph over Philippines and Laos before being defeated by Indonesia in an important match. While Vietnam needed only 1 point to go ahead; they, however, were beaten 0-1 and disqualified from the qualifying round. That was unacceptable for Vietnam.
The next defeat of Vietnam was at U16 level. Sitting in the same group with Indonesia once again witnessed a big 2-4 loss which made Vietnamese supporter disappointed.
In the early 2019, U22 Vietnam was not grouped with Indonesia in AFF U22 Championship. The two team encountered in the semifinal yet Indonesia won 1-0 then defeated Thailand to crown the championship.
It could be said that Vietnam football lost to Indonesia in the recent year without Park Hang-seo’s lead.
