OFFICIAL: V-League 2020 postponded due to Coronavirus outbreak
Vietnam professional football tournaments cannot take place as originally scheduled to prevent respiratory diseases caused by the new strain of Corona virus.
On February 3, Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) announced the schedule postponement for all Vietnam professional football tournaments.
Based on the current situation, the evolution of prevention, the organization will decide the appropriate time to organize the matches. At the moment, VPF offers two feasible options for match time.
Option 1: V-League 2020 will start from February 29, V-League 2 kicks off from March 14 and National Cup qualifer starts from February 23.
Option 2: V-League 2020 opens March 7, V-League 2 on March 14 and the National Cup opens on April 3.
The 2019 National Super Cup match between Hanoi FC and HCMC Club will also be postponed. The reorganization of the match will be updated as soon as possible. Both participating teams supported the decision and stated their determination to strictly comply with the requirements of the organizers.
Delaying the organization of professional football leagues is also a common prevention against Corona in many other countries. In China, the Chinese Football Federation decided to delay all football activities in China until the epidemic is brought under control.
By February 3, the number of people infected with acute coronary pneumonia due to Corona virus reached 17,378 (including 17,302 cases in China). The number of people dying of this disease is 362 people. The only death outside China came from the Philippines. In Vietnam, there were 8 confirmed positive cases.
