After V-League 2020 was postponed for the second time due to COVID-19, many clubs proposed to cancel the results of this season.
VPF Chairman Tran Anh Tu confirmed that the two highest divisions of Vietnamese football V-League and the First Division will be suspended due to the complicated development of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Before the 2020 V-League continues to be postponed and not scheduled to return, many clubs have proposed plans to cancel the results of this season.
Thanh Hoa Club president said: I think in the case of long break, award the cup to the leading team if we cancel the league and there is no relegated team, I am afraid that the outbreak of this outbreak will not end quickly.
Extending the delay of the competition will be very tiring for the teams. If the league can't start in 1-week time, we should cancel it anyway. V-Leage team will be gone if they have to wait for 1, 2 months. Each month also takes a billion. Players are tired of practicing and clubs struggle against finance".
Sharing the same opinion with Thanh Hoa president, the chairman of Quang Nam Club - Nguyen Hup shared: I was aksed earlier "should we continue with the V-League", I said that the tournament should stop. This COVID-19 pandemic is not only experienced once, it will fluctuate many times. The epidemic is outbreaking a second time in Vietnam.
If there is no relegation team in the tournament, it is better to stop now. We should cancel it right awaym, give the prizes to the first three teams. Instead of playing 26 rounds, awarding trophies and 3 billion to the champions, we give them 1 billion. I sugget not having a relegated team and preserving the position of the teams.”
Although the teams have suggested, the final decision will still be VPF's. Fans certainly do not want the tournament to be canceled.
V-League 2020 is going to the dramatic stage, only 2 more rounds of the first phase will be closed. Teams must fight hard to avoid falling into the group of 6 relegated places after the qualifying round.
