Cong Phuong and Ho Chi Minh City advantagous at the AFC Cup 2020
The Asian Football Federation (AFC) has officially closed the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup 2020 matches, thereby helping Cong Phuong and Ho Chi Minh City have the advantage of going far in this year's tournament.
Planning to organize club-level tournaments including AFC Champions League 2020 and AFC Cup 2020, AFC has built the schedule in the direction of focusing in one location, as follows:
- AFC Cup 2020:
Group F / G in Southeast Asia will take place from September 23 to September 29, 2020. Group F and Group G matches will be held in Vietnam.
The two clubs representing Vietnam to participate in the AFC Cup 2020 are Ho Chi Minh City and Than Quang Ninh. After 3 matches played, Ho Chi Minh is holding the top spot in Group F with the same 7 points as Yangon United (Myanmar) but marginally higher in goal difference, followed by Hougang United (Singapore) with 3 points and Lao Toyota (Laos) 0 points.
Playing at the Thong Nhat home field will help the teammates to take advantage of defending the first place and going far in the AFC Cup 2020. Group D in Central Asia will take place from October 20 to November 4, 2020 in Kyrgyzstan or Tajikistan.
Group E in South Asia will take place from October 23 to November 4, 2020 in the Maldives.
The Southeast Asia Regional Semi-Final (October 20 - October 21, 2020) and the South East Asia Regional Final (November 4, 2020) will be held on team A's field according to the schedule issued.
The play-off match in East Asia took place on September 30, 2020 in Taipei, China. Group I matches are held from October 20 to November 4, 2020 in Taipei China or Hong Kong (China).
The regional semi-final (November 24-25, 2020) and the regional final (December 2, 2020) will take place on team A's field according to the issued schedule. The final AFC Cup 2020 will take place on 12/12/2020 on the field of team A (in the West Asia region according to the issued schedule).
- AFC Champions League 2020:
The matches in West Asia will take place from September 14 to October 3, 2020 in Qatar. The matches in East Asia will take place from October 16 to November 28, 2020. Malaysia is identified as the host country of Group G / H, round of 16 teams in the group of relevant teams, quarter-finals and semi-finals in East Asia. Meanwhile, Group E / F and round of 16 of the relevant team have not determined the venue.
The final AFC Champions League 2020 will take place on December 5, 2020 at the club's home ground in West Asia
