Cong Phuong get an injustice card from the referee
Striker Cong Phuong just laughed after the referee showed him a yellow card after a foul from Ngoc Thinh.
In the 79th minute of the match between Buriram and Ho Chi Minh City in the Chang Arena Stadium, midfielder Ngoc Thinh had a fierce tackle with the home defender Sasalak. The situation caused the referee to whistle to stop the match.
Striker Cong Phuong ran to the ball and was unexpectedly shown a yellow card by the referee. The Sri Lankan referee said that Cong Phuong was the one who made the mistake, a mistake about judgment. Cong Phuong could only laugh for the injustice card.
However, a few moments later, the referee seemed to realize his mistake, so he moved to signal to defender Ngoc Thinh to give him a yellow card. And Cong Phuong’s card was erased.
Cong Phuong put in a lot of effort but didn't show it much because the opposing defense was so tight and understood him (many Buriram players are Thai players).
Cong Phuong did not shine, but another hope of the home team, Phi Son, had a beautiful cross for Diakite to shorten the lead in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, it was not enough for Ho Chi Minh City to win.
This failure caused Ho Chi Minh City to play in the AFC Cup, while Buriram continued the preliminary round of the AFC Champions League against Shanghai SIPG a few days later.
