BREAKING: AFC cancel Olympic qualifying events due to deadly Wuhan coronavirus outbreak
Over the past few days, Chinese authorities have cordoned off three major cities, Wuhan, Huanggang, and Pearl, to control the spread of virus corona. In particular, Wuhan is considered the origin of this virus.
The Thai women's table will move the venue to Nanjing. Up to now, China has confirmed 17 deaths, nearly 600 people infected with corona virus. This number is predicted to continue to rise.
In this context, AFC decided to move the venue for the women's soccer matches in Group A of the World Cup qualifiers (Thailand, Australia, Taipei China and China) from the Five Rings Sports Center and Tazihu Sports Center in Wuhan to Jiangning Football Training Center in Nanjing.
AFC announced: “At the request of the CFA, the AFC is now moving the 2020 Olympic Asian women’s football Group B qualifying matches from Wuhan to Jiangning Sports Training Centre in Nanjing, in China’s Jiangsu Province.”
It is expected that the Chinese host will play the opening match with Thai women on February 3. They will then encounter Australian women (February 6) and Chinese Taipei women (February 9). In Group B, Vietnamese women will be in the same group with Korean women and Myanmar women.
