Muangthong United Thailand recently revealed the reason for goalkeeper Dang Van Lam to be benched in the last two rounds in the Thai League 2020.
Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam has always been the number one choice of Muangthong United's wooden frame in Thai League 2019. In last season, the Vietnamese goalkeeper had made 30 appearancs and kept a clean sheet seven times.
By this season, Van Lam still played 180 minutes in the first two rounds. However, in the next two rounds, Dang Van Lam was suddenly pushed onto the bench by coach Alexandre Gama, and lost his slot to goalkeeper Somporn Yos.
Van Lam's sideline made many people worried about the future of the former Hai Phong club goalkeeper. However, according to the shared of Muangthong United, Van Lam's reason for not playing in the last two rounds is because the goalkeeper was injured in the match against BG Pathum United.

Currently, Dang Van Lam is rehearsing with two teammates Lucas Rocha and Daisuke Sato. Despite being the number one goalkeeper of Muangthong United since last season, Van Lam needs to make more efforts when he returns, because his replacement, Somporn Yos, has performed quite well in two matches.
Specifically, Somporn Yos kept a clean sheet when Muangthong confronted Rayong and Chonburi. Even the former Thai U23 goalkeeper was honored to be named in the Best Lineup of the fourth round of Thai League 2020.
