Dinh Trong punished after the thrashing to U23 North Korea
The red card in the U23 Vietnam vs North Korea match causes Dinh Trong to be suspended in the next World Cup match against Malaysia.
The red card of Dinh Trong not only ends the journey of U23 Vietnam at AFC U23 Championship 2020 but also causes the national team to be disadvantaged in the near future. According to FIFA rules, the center-back who plays for Hanoi FC will be suspended in the next match in World Cup 2020 qualifiers.
AFC’s discipline and ethics code in 2019 show:
"AFC competitions subject to an age limit: to the representative team’s next Match in the same age group in AFC or FIFA competition in the same category of football. Where the suspension cannot be served in the same age group, it shall be carried over to a higher age category in AFC or FIFA competition in the same category of football.”
This regulation will make Dinh Trong absent in the next match of the Vietnam national team against Malaysia in the 2022 World Cup qualifier on March 31 because Dinh Trong is unable to attend U23 tournament 2022.
Center-back Dinh Trong has just returned after a serious injury lasting more than 6 months. However, even during the recovery process, he was trusted by Park and attended the U23 tournament. The immaturity of young players made him soon to play with the team. In the matches, although many players play with poor performance, he still shows his level with many accurate judgment situations.
However, Dinh Trong's high level play was not enough to help U23 Vietnam reproduce the feat of Changzhou two years ago. Besides, the red card on January 16 keep him on the bench in the first match of Vietnam NT in 2020.
