Dang Van Lam: 'HAGL used to make me desperate and wanted to quit football'

Dang Van Lam started his career in Spartak Moscow. At the age of 15, he moved to Dinamo Moscow and competed there for 4 years. However, he was not offered a contract by this team. That is one of the reasons why Van Lam decided to return to Vietnam. In 2010, Dang Van Lam officially became a player of HAGL.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper shared: “I signed with HAGL in 2010. It is an extremely professional team, one of the strongest clubs in Vietnam. I was so happy to be there. Everything at HAGL was really hard, hard like when I couldn't have a professional contract in Russia. In Vietnam, at least I have relatives.

But when I had to move to Laos (playing for Hoang Anh Attapeu), I didn't know anyone. Everything was new, from the language, the culture, the way of life ... It was really a time of despair for me. I felt very bad. I even thought about giving up football and going back to school ”- according to Zing.

Dang Van Lam gradually asserted the talent and became the No. 1 goalkeeper of the Vietnamese team at the present time. He was contacted by a lot of foreign teams, he eventually chose Muangthong as a new stop for his career.

“I am always happy to be in Vietnam. In the end, I made my father proud. I can confirm my heart is always Vietnamese, 100% always.

I made my national debut for the Asian Cup qualifier against Jordan in 2017. It was a goalless draw and I was voted Best Player of the Match. I started to become the number one goalkeeper of the Vietnam team, attending the AFF Cup 2018 and the Asian Cup 2019, ” Van Lam shared.
