“I was disappointed to see my players do match-fixing”, Park Hang-seo said
Vietnam head coach reveals in a show about his secrets in the time he worked in South Korea.
During his time-off in South Korea, Park attended a KBS show and talked about secret stories when he worked in Jeongnam 2008-2010.
The year 2010 was considered the darkest time in South Korea Football after many gambling and match-fixing scandals were uncovered. Park first time reveals those stories.
“I received an anonymous mail reporting my team’s match with names of those controlled the games and information provider’s phone number. I kept many evidences through my calls.
Some players seemed worried. I don’t think they are kids any more and ask them to reported what they said in paper. This proved me innocent when I was reported to protect my players”
“Even when I was betrayed, I did not give up. I think we need to stop at the right time”, he shared of his life experience.
Before gaining considerable success in Vietnam, Park once endured tough time in his home country, leaving Jeongnam for not being able to control the dressing room and having problems with the coaching team.
Coach Park came back to Vietnam on May 19 after 10-day leave. He has 2 weeks to prepare for King’s Cup, an important tournament in Thailand.
