The draw for AFC U23 championship 2019 will be held in Thailand.
Recently, AFC has announced seed pot and the time for the draw. Specifically, the draw will be held on September 26, 2019 at Rama Garden in Bangkok.
U23 Vietnam as the runner up will be grouped in the Pot 1 with the host U23 Thailand, defending champions U23 Uzbekistan and U23 Qatar
Group 2 has the presence of giants including U23 Japan, U23 Iraq, U23 South Korea and U23 North Korea. Meanwhile, U23 China, U23 Australia, U23 Jordan and U23 Saudi Arabia belong to the third seed group. The last group includes U23 Syria , U23 Iran, U23 UAE and U23 Bahrain.

Although being ranked in the highest seed group, U23 Vietnam is still at risk of falling into the group of death with giants like South Korea and Japan (group 2); Saudi Arabia, Australia (group 3) or Iran, UAE (group 4). The most beautiful scenario for Coach Park Hang-seo and his men is to sit in the same group with Korea (Group 2), China (Group 3) and Bahrain (Group 4).
In the AFC U23 qualifier 2020, U23 Vietnam is located in Group K with Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei. Park's army won Brunei 6-0, beating Indonesia with 1 goal and slashing Thailand with 4 goals without an equalizer. U23 Vietnam won the ticket to move on.
