VFF and Park to have unexpected meeting for the future of Vietnamese football

The escalating epidemic situation has made all preparations of national plans and the league have to be changed. Thereby, VFF, VPF and Park Hang-seo will hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss the issues of home football in the near future.

Two major issues for this meeting will be raised, including the national team schedule and V-League 2020 organization plan.

The first is that the matches of the Vietnam national team in March and June in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers have been postponed. It is likely that FIFA will change the schedule to October and November, so the matches of the World Cup and AFF Cup 2020 will be overlapped, making the schedule tighter.

The VPF will have to organize thicker rounds of V-League tournaments in the middle of the year to prevent the national team calendar from being accumulated. Also in June, VFF is expected to join the national team and compete against a strong team if the Covid-19 epidemic is under control.

AFF Cup 2020 will still take place as planned because the end of the year is still quite long, so the Southeast Asian Football Federation has no plans to postpone. Vietnam is the current champion of the tournament.

The league will be postponed for half a month to the beginning of April. But if the epidemic continues to be tense, it might be delayed. With a compressed schedule from now to the end of the year, VFF, VPF and Park Hang-seo will have to unify the plans and backup plans to create the best conditions for the Vietnam national team in the tournaments that will contribute.​
