Troussier disappointed with U19 National Championship 2020 format

Coach Philippe Troussier is preparing very actively for the Asian U19 finals. He has made a focused list and most of the players are not participating in the National U19 finals which are taking place at PVF Young Football Training Center.

Mr. Troussier said: "This tournament is a strange tournament when the best players do not go to the final round. They play for teams Viettel, Hanoi, Thanh Hoa. The format made 80% of my national players eliminated.

When I witnessed the qualifications of U19 Ho Chi Minh City and An Giang U19, I was extremely disappointed to think that I had to recruit players from such teams. It's terrible that the worthy team cannot enter the finals like Hanoi and Viettel. Viettel won 22 points but could not enter the finals? Too bad".

Mr. Troussier stated that even if young players are eliminated in such tournaments, he will always give the opportunity to recruit them if they proves their ability.

In addition, Mr. Troussier also revealed that he will select a long list of 80 players to prepare for the AFC U19 Championship finals.

"If I don't call them now, I still remember them. If you're not ready today, I can give you another chance. If you have potential, I will not ignore you,” U19 Vietnam coach concluded.
