Tien Linh disappointed if AFF Cup 2020 is delayed or cancelled

On July 27, the Vietnam Football Federation unexpectedly announced that the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020 likely will not take place as planned (November 23 - December 31, 2020). Tournaments may be postponed to 2021 or canceled.

Following the above information, Coach Park Hang-seo confirmed that he and his players will still be well prepared, because the Vietnamese team still has a World Cup qualifying round. However, the players proved to be disappointed because they did not have a chance to defend the championship.

Nguyen Tien Linh shared: "The first time I participated in the AFF Cup was in 2018 and with the team that won the championship. So I am very excited to attend this tournament for the second time with the desire to successfully defend the throne. If the tournament cannot be held this year, my teammates and I will certainly be in a shortage.”

Standing Vice Chairman of Vietnam Football Federation Tran Quoc Tuan revealed that the AFF Emergency Management Committee will meet on July 30 to finalize the final plan for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020. The tournament may be held in January and end at the first week of February 2021.

The Vietnamese team is currently the defending champion of the AFF Cup 2018. Coach Park Hang-seo's army has become the 'Southeast Asian football king' after defeating Malaysia with a total score of 3-2 in the final 2018.
