Former Thai League 1 champions Buriram United are interested in signing Uzbekistan midfielder Akbar Ismatullaev.

The Thunder Castle recently released South Korean playmaker Jung Jae-Yong, who has since returned home.

Apart from Ismatullaev, Buriram are also looking forward to adding other players to their line-up as the top flight braces itself for a restart, pending an approval from the Thai government.

The 29-year-old Ismatullaev came into the limelight during his association with former Uzbekistan Super League champions Pakhtakor Tashkent from 2009-2017, winning two league titles with the club.

He moved to another Uzbekistan Super League side, Metallurg Bekabad, in 2018 and has also made five appearances for his national team in the recent past.

Buriram have terminated contracts of three foreign players -- Jung, Andres Tunez and Ricardo Bueno -- during the football shutdown in the country since March 3 due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Meanwhile, the Thai Futsal (five-a-side) League is likely to kick off on July 11-12 with all games being played behind closed doors.

Adisak Benjasiriwan, chairman of futsal and beach football in the Football Association of Thailand, said after a meeting with the 14 futsal clubs yesterday that the league could start on July 11-12.

"Hopefully, everything will be finalised by the end of this month," added Adisak.
