The Thai media were extremely happy with the news that the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Asia had to be postponed to 2021.

On the afternoon of August 12, the Asian Football Federation (AFC) announced the postponement of all remaining matches of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Asia to 2021 due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is unhappy news for Vietnam when the plan of Park Hang Seo on August 18 will have to be halted for this.

However, this is good news for the rest of the regional teams. Especially, Thailand when they are facing many difficulties in arranging a concentrated schedule in the near future. SMM Sport wrote:

"This year, Thailand will not play any more matches due to the postponement of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers until 2021. This is good news when coach Akira Nishino's team is having a deadlock in the plan. In addition, the Thai League will also benefit when the tournament is not interrupted and can end sooner than expected.

Meanwhile, the Daily News wrote: "The Thai team is expected to return to the army in early September. However, it is not clear if this plan will remain in place in case there are no more tournaments. Coach Akira Nishino plans to return to Thailand on August 21. Meanwhile, clubs are preparing for the return of the Thai League on September 12 ".

With Vietnam, the AFC delaying the schedule of the 2022 World Cup qualifier makes the preparation plan of Park Hang Seo changed. Most likely, the team will not focus until the end of 2020. The players will return to the club and put their full strength into the rest of the V-League 2020, the tournament expected to return in September.
