In the AFC Asian Cup award Player of the Year 2019, midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai overcame Kim Min-jae, the 23-year-old midfielder of the South Koreaa team.

Korea's Osen newspaper expressed its disappointment when Kim Min-jae lost in this poll. The newspaper thinks that their players are much better than Quang Hai. In the quarterfinals of the poll, Quang Hai will face his teammate Cong Phuong. Earlier, Cong Phuong surpassed Japanese player Yuka Osako.
The 2019 Asian Cup is a tournament where Cong Phuong and Quang Hai both leave their own marks, helping the Vietnam reach the quarter-finals and only losing to the Japanese team with the minimum score. Fans will only be able to choose one of the two names to advance to the semi-finals.
