A small change of Malaysia could help Vietnam to have more advantages as a guest in late March.

According to the latest announcement from Malaysian media, Bukit Jalil Stadium’s turf will be changed from carpet grass to Zeon Zoysia grass. The process is expected to be completed before the Vietnam match against Malaysia in the 2022 World Cup qualifier on March 31.

This 24-year-old stadium has long been cultivated with carpet grass, a type that is also appearing in Vietnam in yards such as Pleiku (HAGL) or Go Dau (Becamex Binh Duong). It is characterized by flat, two-edged runners or stolons.

However, carpet grass today is no longer used by many teams. Because after heavy rains, this grass often becomes muddy, exposing the ground causing the injury rate of the players to rise.

So, to bring splendor to one of the top stadiums on the continent, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) decided to change the ground of Bukit Jalil Stadium. All promise to make Malaysia's national stadium even more spectacular in the future.

Zeon Zoysia is a fairly common grass with many sports, especially golf. This grass usually does not absorb much water and can adapt to the tropical monsoon climate of Southeast Asia.

Many competitive players such as Quang Hai, Hung Dung, Duy Manh, Dinh Trong, ... are familiar with this turf when this is also the grass used for Hang Day Stadium.

The change of the stadium may bring the advantage for Vietnam

The match between Vietnam and Malaysia in Group G qualifying for the World Cup 2022 will take place on March 31.
