Phan Van Santos has recently been honored by the Southeast Asia Football Federation (AFF) for his miraculous free kick.

On April 23, the Football Association of Southeast Asia (AFC) posted a picture honoring Phan Van Santos (former Vietnamese goalkeeper) for his free kick skill. Accordingly, he is the Asian goalkeeper to score the most goals in his career with 15 goals.

The achievement of the goalkeeper with dual nationalities Brazil and Vietnam outperforms the rest. The 2nd-placed goalkeeper Angelo Konstantinou (Australia) has achieved only half of Santos with 7 goals.

The remaining positions belong to Les Pogliacomi (6 goals), Cheng Xiaopeng (4 goals), Kim Byung-ji (3 goals) and Mohamed Al-Deayed (3 goals). It can be seen that besides Santos, the remaining names on this list are all from the major Asian football platforms.

With 15 goals, Phan Van Santos also honored to reach the top 20 goalkeepers scoring the most goals in the history of world football. On this list, there are also many famous goalkeepers like Rogerio Ceni, Jose Chilavert, Rene Higuita, Hans-Jorg Butt, ...

Previously, the ability to take a free kick also helped Phan Van Santos make history in the AFC Champions League when becoming the only goalkeeper to score in this tournament. The goal was scored in a match between Dong Tam Long An and Shanghai Shhua in the 2006 season.

Phan Van Santos is a Vietnamese naturalized player based in Brazil. After many years playing for Dong Tam Long An Club, he was first called up to Vietnam national team by Calisto in 2008. However, his career gradually deteriorated before retiring in 2014.
