Cong Phuong affirmed that defeating SLNA was not because of hatred but the fighting spirit of a Nghe An person.
In the 6th round of V.League 2020, Ho Chi Minh City won an impressive 3-1 victory over SLNA. The great contribution to the victory of coach Chung Hae Seong's side is the number 21 striker Nguyen Cong Phuong.
Cong Phuong brought home the second goal for Ho Chi Minh City. After scoring against his home team, the midfielder left a beautiful image when he decided not to celebrate the goal.

Born and raised in My Son, Do Luong District, Cong Phuong used to apply to SLNA but failed. After that, he went into HAGL JMG training. However, Cong Phuong has never enjoyed the joy of winning in HAGL shirt against SLNA.
The goal to SLNA net is also the second successive goal of Cong Phuong in the last 2 rounds. The steady performance of the Nghe An striker has helped the HCMC club take the lead on the table.
