Vietnam leaves Thailand behind on FIFA rankings
Vietnam continues to maintain its historical rankings and outstrips Thailand on the FIFA Ranking of July 2020.
Coach Troussier nominated as the greatest coach in Asian Cup history

U19 Vietnam coach is listed in the AFC list of the 10 greatest coaches in the Asian Cup.
The Asian Cup is the most prestigious tournament of Asian football at the national team level. This tournament has 64 years of history with a total of 9 champions, Japan has crowned the champions the most with 4 times, followed by Saudi Arabia, Iran (3), South Korea (2), Israel, Kuwait, Australia, Iraq, Qatar (1).
There have been 16 coaches to the throne in this tournament. They overcome many other talented strategists to bring glory to the team they lead. Recently AFC has published the article to vote the greatest coach of the Asian Cup.
Among the 10 names that AFC listed, there was the appearance of U19 Vietnam coach Philippe Troussier. Appointed to the hot seat of Japan in 1998, the French coach took only 2 years to bring the Blue Samurai to the Asian Cup championship held in Lebanon.
Japan scored 21 goals including victories to destroy Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and Iraq before once again beating Saudi Arabia in the final to step on the podium glory. In addition, Mr. Troussier brought Japan to the 1/8 round of the 2002 World Cup.
In 2018, Mr. Troussier accepted an invitation to be the Technical Director of PVF Young Football Training Center. By the end of 2019, he was transferred to be a U19 Vietnam coach. He and the Vietnam Football Federation gradually implemented the goal of bringing Vietnam to the World Cup in the near future.
Back to the list of AFC nominees, some other names may be familiar with Vietnamese football fans such as Alberto Zaccheroni (Italy), Felix Sanchez (Spain), Zico (Brazil).
The voting takes place on the AFC homepage which will end at 3:00 pm (Vietnam time) on July 20.
