‘I am learning Vietnam National Anthem, waiting for being called up’, says Hoang Vu Samson
Thể Thao 247 - In the recent talk, Hoang Vu Samson told that he is learning Vietnamese National Anthem and still waiting for a day being called up to the national team.
Vietnamese football, having the ‘golden generation’ of Cong Phuong, Quang Hai, and Van Lam…, conquered ASEAN throne and is going forward into the international zone.
Park Hang-seo’s side snatched the runner-up position of AFC U23 Championship, was through to top 8 of Asian Cup and crowned AFF Cup champion. The next aim of the ‘Golden Dragons’ is to touch the 2022 World Cup dream.
To actualize this dream, some football experts believe that Vietnamese football needs to speed up training task in the next 5 – 10 years. Besides, fans hope that Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) will open the doors for naturalized players, which can help shorten World Cup path.
Responding to The Thao Van Hoa newspaper, Samson shared:
"I’ve been lived in Vietnam for a long time. I know Vietnamese football, know many Vietnamese players and understand the way they play. I really want to play for Vietnam NT. In the squad, I know a lot of qualified men such as Quang Hai, Duy Manh, Duc Huy, Van Hau ... Therefore, I can easily play for the national team without facing any big obstacles. I am so sad if I can be a part of the team. I would love to have a chance to play in the national team.
I have Vietnamese nationality, a home, and my children in this country. I am learning Vietnamese national anthem. If I am given that chance, I will definitely focus on playing and scoring numerous goals. I have been here for more than 10 years so I can understand and know many things. I never feel unhappy in Vietnam because I love this place so much.’
Hoang Vu Samson is blessed with an impressing scoring ability with approximately 150 goals in V-League. Unless he was a nationalized player, he would perfectly be given a convening and starting slot.
Previously, Vietnam NT once made calls to some of the nationalized men namely Phan Van Santos, Dinh Hoang La, Huynh Kesley Alves ...
However, Phan Van Santos’s behavior when he was singing Brazil National Anthem in the friendly game against Brazil was the last straw leading to VFF’s decision which was eliminating nationalized players out of the Vietnam NT list.
Only under Toshiya Miura time (2015), the national team's window was opened to such kind of players.
