Park Hang-seo is wasting the best striker in Vietnam?

In the history of Vietnamese football, the player scoring the most goals for the national team is striker Le Cong Vinh with 51 goals in 85 matches. Following the Nghe An-born striker, there are two other legends of home football Le Huynh Duc (28 goals) and Nguyen Hong Son (16 goals).

However, all of these players have retired. The next person on the list of Vietnamese national team and still playing is striker Nguyen Van Quyet.

Van Quyet has scored 14 goals after 51 appearances, but Van Quyet was not often convened under Park Hang-seo. The two official tournaments that Van Quyet played under the guidance of the Korean coach were Asiad 18 and AFF Cup 2018.

By 2019, Van Quyet is no longer on the list of Park's summon. However, this is one of the best seasons of Van Quyet's career when he played a key role in helping Hanoi win the double title of National Cup and V-League 2019. In addition, he and his teammates also entered the AFC Cup Inter-regional final against April 25.

Answering to the media, Park Hang-seo gave the simple reason that "Van Quyet is not suitable for my tactics". This is really a pity in the context of Vietnam's attack line last time playing not really effective at World Cup 2022 Qualifiers.

Facing strong teams like Thailand or the UAE, the monolithic style of Van Toan or Tien Linh is gradually being  caught. This begs the question, does Park Hang-seo need to diversify his attack plans and add creative players like Van Quyet in the squad?
