Coach SLNA: 'I used to have quite a headache with Van Duc's way of life'

Coach Ngo Quang Truong gave compliments to his player Phan Van Duc. Since he was a youngster player, Mr. Truong has been personally teaching and educating Van Duc.

"I took over Van Duc's class when he was 14 years old. He has outstanding qualities but has a disadvantage in his body. SLNA recruited new players every 6 months, Van Duc could stay again thanks to different qualities such as endurance, fast running, personality and very stubborn in playing football.

Van Duc is slim, but the way to move wisely, agility and short speed sprint very well. Those are the skills that form Van Duc today. "

Coach Ngo Quang Truong has closely commented on the quality of Van Duc. In Vietnam at this time, Park prefered using Van Duc. The ability to dribble, move without the ball, assist and finish are in the top.

However, the most memorable memory of Mr. Truong was that when he was a young player, he made a serious mistake that led to his loss of football career.

"In life, he is also the type of player that makes me have a headache. When he was young and practiced and studied away from home, I had to play the role of a father and a teacher.

One mistake I remember forever was that the club ruled not to play cards. Van Duc and a few of his friends in the room played cards to have some money. But that was a violation, I have to be more strict.

I disciplined that group for a week without training. If there was a second time, I  would call up parents and liquidated the contract ".

Coach Quang Truong shared that Van Duc is very quiet and less emotional. It was those things that greatly influenced his development later on. Perhaps in the past years, Mr. Truong can be proud to have helped Vietnamese football to have an outstanding talent.
